Sophos boosts its troops in virus wars
Launching Sophos Reseller Programme (SRP) designed for dealers, systems integrators and VARs
Sophos is bringing in the channel to grow its presence in the anti-virus market with the launch of the Sophos Reseller Programme (SRP). This push follows a successful kick-off in America and the advance interest of over 150 UK resellers.
The VAR/Channel strategy is designed to penetrate areas of the market which are more efficiently served by channel players. It is aimed at dealers, systems integrators and VARS interested in bundling Sophos Anti-Virus (SAV) with other software and hardware products, to provide complete security solutions for businesses. All SRP partners will have direct access to Sophos for sales, marketing, technical and training support. Regular seminars will be held to demonstrate product features and discuss security issues. The first will take place on June 11, 1999.
"The reseller market is extremely competitive and has now become as client-focused as the vendors themselves, so we feel the time is right to launch the SRP in the UK," said David Stanley, UK sales manager at Sophos. "We're following a similar pattern to that of our direct sales strategy by bringing in resellers to support markets where they are ultimately the best provider. The feedback we've already had indicates that SAV will do well in the channel, not only because of the merits of the product but also because Sophos emphasises support and advice for resellers," he added.
SAV is a network-oriented anti-virus solution combining workstation and server protection to provide simplicity, security and stability. Unlike other anti-virus products, SAV provides the same highly automated solution for all popular network configurations. The reseller network will provide local expertise, advice and support, backed by Sophos's own 24-hour technical support team.
Resellers interested in becoming an SRP partner can register for the programme here.
