Sophos Anti-Virus, Europe's leading developer of corporate anti-virus solutions, has been awarded "Best Performance" in a comparative anti-virus test by PC Plus magazine.

The test, published in the August 2000 edition of PC Plus, was conducted in co-ordination with the virus testing facilities at West Coast Labs.

Sophos Anti-Virus out-performed Command Anti-Virus, Aladdin E-Safe, F-Secure Anti-Virus, Computer Associates InoculateIT, In-Defense, McAfee VirusScan, Norman Virus Control, Panda Anti-Virus, and Norton Anti-Virus 2000 to scoop the award for "Best Performance", detecting all in-the-wild viruses.

PC Plus praised Sophos Anti-Virus's InterCheck on-access scanner: "This solution is accurate, surprisingly fast and adaptable to desktops, workstations, servers, networks and even whole enterprises. When experts leapfrog into a technical lead with a virtually totally secure solution like that, you have to take them at their word: they are on the lookout for the best and most secure precautions for your data."

The magazine went on to praise Sophos's legendary technical support and customer service: "The support provided by the Sophos team is not exceeded by its competitors, and every bit of information, every operation of the anti-virus package is geared to the best interests of the responsible PC user."

"We are delighted to have the quality of Sophos Anti-Virus confirmed by these tests," said Graham Cluley, head of corporate communications at Sophos. "These latest PC Plus results further strengthen our position as the world's leading anti-virus solution."
