Sophos to protect WWF networks from extinction

WWF selects Sophos Anti-Virus to protect UK networks

Sophos, a world leader in corporate anti-virus protection, announced today that it has been chosen by WWF, the world's largest and most respected independent conservation organisation, to provide protection against computer viruses. WWF will install Sophos Anti-Virus protection in 16 offices across the UK; including its UK headquarters in Godalming and national offices in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

WWF, the global environment network, requires high-quality anti-virus protection as it relies on information stored on computer networks linking 50 WWF national organisations across five continents. WWF databases, which have been built up since its foundation in 1961, include members' details and information about endangered species. It is extremely important to the work of WWF that this information is protected from corruption, destruction or unauthorised disclosure.

"Computers are absolutely crucial to our work," said David Southern, Head of IT at WWF. "Because we communicate with so many people across the globe, we need extremely robust protection in our UK offices. Sophos fulfils this need and also provides support which is second to none."

Sophos remains the only independent anti-virus software vendor that focuses on supplying high quality software and support 24 hours a day to corporate customers. Over 65% of the top 100 companies in the FT500 listing use Sophos Anti-Virus, demonstrating the high level of trust that large corporations place in the company.
