Sophos selected as finalist in company of the year award
Sophos makes shortlist for 2001 Real Business/CBI Growing Business Awards
Sophos, a world leader in corporate anti-virus protection, has been shortlisted as one of the five finalists for the Company of the Year category at the 2001 Real Business/CBI Growing Business Awards. Sophos has made the shortlist due to its business performance, ambition, potential and management quality. The award is backed by the CBI and Real Business, the leading magazine for UK entrepreneurs.
The independent panel of judges, comprising leading figures in both industry and academia, will make its final decision on December 6th, 2001. Bill Gates, Chairman of Microsoft Corporation and one of the world's most successful entrepreneurs, will be delivering the keynote speech at the awards ceremony.
"Our focus on providing anti-virus protection to corporate users has brought us great success in the last year," said Peter Lammer, co-founder and joint CEO of Sophos Anti-Virus. "Being shortlisted for this award is yet another important endorsement for the work we're doing at Sophos."
Sophos has been enjoying strong financial growth in recent years, profit before tax for the year ending March 2001 was £7.8 million, 65% more than for the previous year. The company is also building a new £32 million research and development centre in Abingdon, creating 160 new jobs for the area.
