Sophos storms into "Tornado Insider 100" list

Sophos, a world leader in corporate anti-virus protection, has been named in the second annual "Tornado Insider 100" list as one of Europe's top emerging private tech companies. The list represents the most promising and innovative emerging companies in the European IT and biotech sectors.

"This year's 'Tornado Insider 100' companies have demonstrated a proven ability to be creative, agile and truly innovative in a challenging climate," said Ron Groen, CEO of Tornado Insider. "We believe that these companies will continue to provide enduring value to their customers, their shareholders and the marketplace."

Sophos was also recently awarded two prestigious Queen's Awards for Enterprise, the UK's top awards for business performance. The company, headquartered just outside Oxford, has been rewarded for both its technical excellence and business acumen by receiving awards in two separate categories - 'Innovation' and 'International Trade'.

These achievements follow an outstanding year for Sophos. During the period ending March 2001, Sophos's turnover grew 54%, more than double the average anti-virus industry growth rate. In December 2001, Sophos was also named Company of the Year at the CBI's annual Growing Business Awards. Continuing this growth, the company is currently constructing a new £32 million high-security research and development centre at its headquarters in Abingdon.
