Sophos launches live virus and hoax information feeds for websites
Firm raises anti-virus awareness with free of charge service
Sophos, a world leader in corporate
Sophos has developed three different information feeds as part of this service. Website owners can choose to display the latest ten viruses to appear in the wild, a chart of the month's most common viruses and the ten most troublesome virus hoaxes of the past 24 hours. The layout, design and colour of the feeds can also be adapted to suit the overall design of the website.
The virus information feed service is the latest initiative in Sophos's ongoing education programme which aims to increase understanding of the virus threat. The feeds provide an ideal method of informing internet users of the most recent virus and hoax developments.
"When it comes to combatting computer viruses knowledge is key," said Graham Cluley, senior technology consultant for Sophos. "With hundreds of new viruses unleashed each month there is always the possibility that users will be caught out. These information feeds provide an instant checklist on which viruses and hoaxes to look out for, and ultimately help reduce the impact of future viruses and worms."
To initiate this service, website administrators simply need to insert a small piece of HTML code into their web page. Sophos then automatically updates the virus information on a continual basis. The service is also available as an XML RSS feed.
