Sophos and Tel.net target safer enterprise with secure content management

Sophos, a world leader in corporate anti-virus protection, has joined forces with Australian internet and email protection developer Tel.net Media Ltd to deliver an integrated secure content management (SCM) solution, available globally.
The SCM solution combines Sophos's protection against more than 77,000 viruses, Trojan horses and other malware with Tel.net Media's Sheriff Technology(tm) systems for management of employee internet usage and email scanning.
Available from Tel.net Media and its reseller partners, the new solution comes in two versions. For large organisations, with over 1,000 users, the system is configured as a customer-specific tailored service. For enterprises with between 25 and 1,000 users, the solution is available as a simple to operate stand-alone 'plug-and-play' device known as eSaverT.
The solution features an embedded version of Sophos's anti-virus engine.
Commenting on the new partnership, Sophos's manager of Strategic Alliance, Asia Pacific, Philip Kemp said securing the enterprise against digital security threats and offensive content is the new business imperative that needs addressing by businesses large and small.
"The prevalence of blended security threats is on the rise and challenging businesses to adopt strategies and technologies to protect themselves and ensure ongoing continuity," he said. "Digital threats exist at all levels within a business, so it is essential that a combination of secure content management and safe computing practice be implemented, safeguarding information systems and corporate reputation."
Tel.net Media executive director Adam Barnard said that the integrated Sophos and Sheriff Technologies SCM solution would enable enterprises of all sizes to protect the integrity of their information time- and cost-effectively.
"Secure content management is all about protecting your enterprise, by keeping in confidential information and keeping out external threats while facilitating business communication with customers and partners," he said. "Businesses at both ends of the spectrum must protect the information that contributes to their competitive edge and must take reasonable steps to guard against breaches of IT security."
