Sophos Anti-Virus for Windows XP wins VB100 award Independent comparative test confirms quality of Sophos solution

VB100
Sophos Anti-Virus has won the VB100 award again

Sophos, a world leader in IT security and control, today announced that Sophos Anti-Virus has been awarded the accolade of VB100 by Virus Bulletin magazine. This is the 38th time that Sophos Anti-Virus has won a prestigious VB100 award, confirming its ability to detect 100% of the viruses in the wild, and its position as one of the most powerful virus protection products available.

Virus Bulletin tested 37 different anti-virus products for their detection rates, lack of false alarms, and speed of scanning on the Windows XP SP2 platform. Sophos successfully detected all of the in-the-wild viruses (as well as identifying 100% of the file, polymorphic, worms, DOS and macro viruses) with no false alarms, outperforming a number of other vendors.

In-the-wild: 100.00%
In-the-wild (on-access):  100.00%
File infector: 100.00%
Worms and bots: 100.00%
DOS: 100.00%
Macro: 100.00%
False positives: 0

"Sophos Anti-Virus for Windows XP performed impressively during the tests with its simple installation, in-depth configuration options and excellent detection rates," said John Hawes, technical consultant at Virus Bulletin. "By protecting against all the in-the-wild viruses without false positives, Sophos earns itself another VB100 award."

All Sophos products use the same technology to protect against viruses, worms, spyware, Trojan horses and other malware, ensuring consistently high detection rates across all operating systems.

About the Virus Bulletin 100% award

The Virus Bulletin 100% awards recognise those products best able to detect viruses known to be 'in the wild'. Unlike some other similar-sounding schemes, Virus Bulletin uses the most up-to-date WildList in its tests. This means that products that are 'up with the game' are the ones most likely to be granted VB100 awards. More information about Virus Bulletin can be found on its website: www.virusbtn.com.
