CRN test center names Sophos Web Appliance a favorite in 2008 Sophos awarded five out of five stars for technology and channel program
IT security and control firm Sophos announced today that Sophos Web Appliance WS1000 was included in CRN Test Center's "12 Security Products That We Love" list for 2008. The solutions that made the list were the most impressive security solutions to come through the test center so far this year.
Sophos's web appliance was selected by the CRN Test Center as the top pick, giving praise for ease of administration, quick set-up, proactive behavioral genotype technology and high profits for partners who sell the appliance.
In this content filtering test, CRN note that "from opening the box, the WS1000 shipped in to configuring its network settings took no more than 20 minutes" and "WS1000 really shines when it comes to scanning capability."
The reviewer concluded that "the Sophos WS1000 has the edge. It was breathtakingly simple to set up, but that in no way negates how effective a content filter this appliance is. The scanning capabilities are excellent, and it would take the most stealthy of ruses for any malware to get by this device."
