How to check that Sophos Anti-Virus for Windows NT/2000/XP/2003, version in maintenance, is running correctly
This product is nearing retirement. We strongly recommend that you upgrade in order to ensure your protection stays fully up to date.
You will need to check that both the on-access and on-demand scanners are working.
What to do
To check that Sophos
- To ensure that the on-access scanner (InterCheck) is running, look for the 'lightning strike' icon on the right-hand side of the Windows taskbar. If it is red, the on-access scanner is active; if it is grey, the on-access scanner is not active. For more details, double-click the icon and a small window will be displayed. It should contain the text 'Status: Active'.
- To ensure that the Sophos
Anti-Virus on-demand scanner is installed correctly, start the program. At the taskbar, select Start|Programs|SophosAnti-Virus |SophosAnti-Virus . When it has started up, the Immediate tabbed page should be displayed, and there should be a 'green light' icon against the 'C:' or 'Local hard drives' path. The text in the lower window of the scanner should contain a list of the IDEs that are being used.
